Tungsten Carbide For Oil & Gas Industry

Due to its high wear resistance, good toughness and corrosion resistance properties to withstand abrasive and harsh environments, tungsten carbide is widely used as wear parts in pumps, valves, drilling & exploitation bits for oil & gas industry.

Artificial lift is a process used on oil wells to increase pressure within the reservoir and encourage oil to the surface. When the natural drive energy of the reservoir is not strong enough to push the oil to the surface, artificial lift is employed to recover more production. There are 6 common types of artificial lift pumps. They are hydraulic lift, sucker rod lift, ESP, progressive cavity lift, gas lift and plunger lift.

Tungsten Carbide Throat & Nozzle are the most important parts of hydraulic lift jet pump, which is one of the most cost-effective ways to improve production, extend the life of a mature oil field and even save an abandoned oil field.

ZZSINO offers a complete line of sizes for throat and nozzle. Capable of producing micro holes of hole diameter down to 0.05mm and surface finish up to Ra0.1, ZZSINO is capable of producing throat and nozzle with any size as per customer’s requirement.

In the oil and gas industry, electric submersible pump (ESP) systems are probably best known as an effective artificial lift method of pumping production fluids to the surface. It is an efficient and reliable artificial-lift method for lifting moderate to high volumes of fluids from wellbores.

Producing significant volumes of abrasive sand, iron sulfate and other solids with electric submersible pumps (ESPs) presents challenges, which can compromise system run life. In standard constructions, excessive abrasives can wear pumps quickly, reduce performance, and cause premature failures. An ESP is only as reliable as its weakest component, and in many cases that “weakest component” is the sleeve. In an ESP system,

Tungsten Carbide Bearing Sleeve & Bushing are widely in motors, centrifugal pumps, protectors, separator shafts for ESP pump’s long run-life and reliability. Zzsino offers all types of sleeves like straight cylindrical axle sleeve, sleeve with key way, sleeve with step and tailor-made sleeves.

A sucker rod pump (SRP) is a widely used artificial lift system in the oil and gas industry, designed to bring crude oil and other fluids from deep underground reservoirs to the surface. This type of pump is commonly used in onshore wells, particularly in mature fields where natural pressure is no longer sufficient to push the oil to the surface. The SRP offers a cost-effective and reliable solution for extracting oil in various production scenarios, ensuring the continued productivity of oil wells.

The main components of a sucker rod pump include the surface pumping unit, a series of sucker rods, and the downhole pump assembly.

Tungsten Carbide Ball & Seat are critical components of downhole pump assembly. The performance directly affects the service life of the sucker rod pumps. ZZSINO is supplying full product range of valve ball and seat for subsurface sucker rod pump, with annual production capacity of 200000 sets.  Materials of tungsten carbide, titanium carbide, stainless steel, cermet are available. Each ball and each seat are exchangeable and vacuum tested to ensure a perfect seal.

A mechanical seal is simply a method of containing fluid within a vessel (typically pumps, mixers, etc.) where a rotating shaft passes through a stationary housing or occasionally, where the housing rotates around the shaft. It contains a stationary seal ring and a rotating seal ring which are made of tungsten carbide.

Tungsten Carbide Seal Ring is the most important component of a mechanical seal ring because of its excellent performance of preventing or minimizing leakage from a vessel through the clearance around a rotating shaft entering that vessel.

ZZSINO produces a wide range of tungsten carbide seal rings with or without key way and step, super-lapped to a high degree of flatness, with outer diameter up to 800mm. both Ni binder and Co binder grades are available for different applications.

A choke valve is a particular design of valve that raises and lowers a solid cylinder (called a "plug" or "stem") which is placed around or inside another cylinder that has holes or slots. Choke valves are severe service valves which are designed specifically for oil and gas wellhead applications, both in a surface and subsurface context. They are used for controlling the flow on production, reinjection and subsurface wellheads. Choke valves are subjected to typical wellhead extreme conditions which can cause erosion, corrosion and other damage. Typically this can include high fluid velocity, slugging, sand production and multiphase of oil, gases and water. Also a choke valve has to have a very high turndown capability as it has to cover a wide range of flowrates. Thus the design of choke valves is required to be very robust with careful selection of valve configuration, flow path profiles, materials and ease of maintenance.

There are 5 trim types of choke valves. They are,

Needle and Seat type

Tungsten Carbide Needle and Seat are the key components of the choke valve, which is the simplest and least expensive adjustable choke, best for pressure control and has reasonable capacity.

Multiple Orifice Valve(MOV) type

Tungsten Carbide Orifice Disk is used in this trim type. This valve is characterized by quick open and close, good rate and pressure control and it is available as in-line installation.

Fixed Bean type

Tungsten Carbide Lined Choke Bean is widely used in a fixed choke valve. A fixed choke valve is best for applications requiring infrequent adjustments and used mostly on wellhead Christmas trees.

Plug and Cage type

Tungsten Carbide Plug and Cage are the most important components of a plug & cage type choke valve. This valve is characterized by its high capacity and good controllability.

External Sleeve type

It has reduced capacity when compared to the plug & cage design.

A PDC drill bit, or polycrystalline diamond compact drill bit, is a type of rotary drill bit that uses synthetic diamond cutting elements to drill through rock. PDC bits are the most common type of drill bit used in oil and gas well drilling today. PDC drill bits work by shearing the rock formation as they rotate. The diamond cutting elements are extremely hard and durable, allowing them to cut through even the hardest rocks. PDC bits are also very efficient, drilling through rock much faster than other types of drill bits.

Tungsten Carbide Threaded Nozzle is used for flushing, cooling and lubricating of PDC drill bits. The high pressure fluid jetted out of the nozzles helps break down the rock.

ZZSINO offers a wide range of threaded nozzles for down-hole drilling applications. Both standard grades and grades for specific application are available.
